The funding of the Fire Brigades has been a real bête- noire for the industry and ICA was successful in achieving reform in every State and Territory except for New South Wales, where the subject still carries on to this day.
Under- Insurance and Non-Insurance
The industry regularly complains about this issue and it comes sharply into focus every time there is a natural disaster. I believe that the answers, while complicated, surround consumer confidence and trust in the industry, the appropriateness and design of the products we offer and also affordability. One successful initiative we had was to encourage the industry to include automatic indexation of sums insured, which worked extremely well in the bushfires.
