proposed at an ICA Board Meeting that ladies be also included! This was defeated the first time but I then succeeded in changing it when I became President!
We repeated this model with a conference and a lunch or dinner with the Government in every State and these were highly regarded events.
Most significantly, however we inaugurated the ICA in Canberra Day at which the Board would meet with senior government ministers in a Chatham House dinner the night before, The next day we would have a seminar in the Parliament House attended by Government Ministers and Opposition Shadow Ministers and a large representation by the public service in Canberra. These were terrific platforms for debate and engagement in building relations and understanding.
