of the Code with ads which showcased real insurance company employees telling in their own words how the Code benefited consumers. We also put in place detailed tracking research which showed a very positive impact.
Insurance Education in Schools
A parallel to the public education campaign was an initiative we drove as a joint effort between ICA, LIFA (the Life Insurance Federation of Australia) The Insurance Institute and the National Curriculum Services of the Victorian Commercial Teaches Association in 1991. This was the launch of the Third Edition of a programme first started in 1984, aimed at teaching thousands of years nine and ten post-primary school students the basics of insurance.
It was introduced to some 2500 secondary schools throughout Australia. The benefits we saw were quoted at the time as:
