CHAPTER 7 - MY PARTNER DAPHNE
Chapter 7 - My Partner Daphne
No biography could be complete without the mention of Daphne who I have known for 63 years. In February 2018 we were married for 60 years. I met Daphne when she was engaged by the British Traders Insurance Company and was appointed my Secretary.
I fell in love with her lovely auburn hair and her personality.
I do remember on the occasion when she initially joined us, the General Manager asked whether we were running a kindergarten because she was only 15. Also as I mentioned earlier, at British Traders at the time was Stan Spanner who became my brother-in- law, Cynthia Hill, Daphne’s sister, who was head of Reinsurance and Jimmy Hill who was the Accountant, who eventually became her husband.
They were happy times, but I felt that as I was getting married to Daphne it would be better for me to move to another company. This is when I joined L&G and believe it or not, Daphne joined the London Insurance Company where she was in the Marine Department.
Most of the rest is history, but we have had great times together and enjoyed many opportunities and been to and seen many places around the world. Because in my early years I was
