Chapter 8 - The Insurance and Sporting Family
Work and Insurance in particular have been a dominant part of my life. However as with all of us, the most important things in this world are people, the friendships we make and most of all our families.
As I mentioned earlier, ours is an Insurance Family but it is also a Sporting Family.
Before I get carried away, I thought I would like to introduce the family and in doing so, concentrate on the contribution each has made to the broader insurance industry. You will note from their experience, they have been represented across just about every role there is in the industry. This means the family members have been involved in the capacities of Insurer, Broker, Agent, Underwriting Agent, Finance, Claims Assessing, Insurance Ombudsman Services, Reinsurance and Claims Management. You name it, a Daly has been there. What’s more, I have also commented on the Daly offspring and those who have followed their parents within the industry.
I am not aware of any other family such as the Daly’s, when it comes to the insurance industry. With a few exceptions, everyone is or was involved in the industry including the majority of partners. In many cases a number of the children and relations have followed suit. It is a sort of inheritance we received from Dad, commonly referred to as Pop Daly.
I do have an old family photo which we could insert here and when talking about Pop Daly we could include a photo.
In introducing them, I have placed them in order of age (can’t believe what I am doing).
