On behalf of the members of the conference committee and staff,
thank you to all that who attended the NYSAPLS 64th Annual
Surveyor’s Conference and Exhibition at the Turning Stone Resort
& Casino in Verona, New York.
Over 725 conference registrants attended this year’s event, in
addition to over 30 exhibitors showcasing their products and services.
Attendees traveled from all areas of New York State and some
hailing across the country to join our annual celebration. Attendee
registrations included a dynamic combination of professional
land surveyors and engineers, CEOs, field crew, office staff, sales
team members, volunteers, students, college professors and more.
The association provided over 20 hours of continuing education
throughout the event, with a total of 38 programs presented from
Tuesday afternoon through Friday morning.
On Tuesday, we held an MTS Round Table session in addition
to a Learning Lab with Carlson Software for early arrivals. The
NYSAPLS Board of Directors held a dinner and meeting that
evening, followed by a fundraiser reception for the LS PAC. On
behalf of your PAC committee, thank you to all that attended the
reception and participated in the silent auction. A total of $3,280 in
PAC donations were received during the conference.
On Wednesday, January 18th, our official “opening” day, attendees
gathered at lunchtime to honor the 2023 scholarship winners and
welcome the newest licensees to the profession. Congratulations
to all for your accomplishments. In addition, we presented the
NYSAPLS’ Pillars of Excellence Awards. A listing of scholarship
recipients, new licensees and all conference contest winners can be
found on pages 19 and 20.
Our annual student networking day was also held Wednesday
afternoon. Students and licensees were paired up during lunch and
attended the awards luncheon together as an icebreaker. Student
lunches were sponsored by the NYSAPLS Auxiliary (Wed) and
Nassau Suffolk Civil Engineers (Thurs). Participants spent the
