Field Dendrology for the Land Surveyor
(A Walk in the Woods)*
Monday, June 5; Wednesday, June 7; or Friday, June 9, 2023

4.0 NY LS/PE CE Hours
This field lab is directed toward the skill of identifying different tree
species that the New York State Land Surveyor would come into
contact with in the curse of preparing a survey. This is a companion
session of Dendrology for the Land Surveyor. The emphasis will be
placed on the application of the techniques discussed in the virtual
course. A hike around various State Parks will include stops at many
NYSAPLS Spring Workshop of the tree species discussed. Critical identification features will be
highlighted. We will practice the use of dichotomous keys to aid in
Dendrology for the Land Surveyor identification. The hike will conclude with a self-evaluated quiz. To
be eligible for the field portion of this course, you are REQUIRED
