With the beginning of the New Year, many of us begin to reflect on the past
year and look towards the future. As people begin to think about resolutions
and personal changes, NYSAPLS is excited to launch our “New Year, New
Career” campaign to encourage those looking for a career change to
consider professional land surveying.
This campaign launches in January and aims to connect with those
who may be a great fit for a career in professional land surveying.
As NYSAPLS begins its outreach to encourage more people to join the
Land Surveying Profession, we NEED YOUR HELP!
The PR Committee is looking for stories from our members who have made a mid-
career change into surveying. There are so many great people with some of the
skill sets out there just waiting to become surveyors and we are looking to inspire
them with your story. If you found your passion for this career early on, we want to
share your knowledge with prospective surveyors too! The goal is to help inform
and inspire the public to dive in and make the change to surveying. If you are
interested in sharing your story or unique aspects of your day-to-day work, check
out the questions below for ideas on what we’re looking for!
• Did you join the surveying profession after another career?
What was your other career?
• What made you decide to pursue or switch careers to surveying?
• In your current position, do you hire new surveyors?
• What technical skill-sets transition well into the surveying profession?
Please email a quick summary or notes about your interesting story and
a photo/headshot to Heather Schultz and you may see it shared on
one of the NYSAPLS social media pages!
On behalf of the PR Committee, thank you for your support!
And don’t forget to check out all our career postings for any in career job changes!
