The New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors is
reinvigorating our social media presence. Beginning last summer, and
continuing strong into the end of last year, alongside The Martin Group,
NYSAPLS has launched a robust social media effort across all our platforms.
In October, we launched #DiscoverSurveying on social media to spark
curiosity surrounding the profession, uncover the evolution of surveying
and continue to engage the membership to share their own unique stories
and discoveries with the public.
The effort brought together insightful, interesting information and tales
from the membership to share with the public. We were able to create
consistent and engaging storytelling that resonated well with the public.
Over the course of the campaign, we drove significant engagement on the
Facebook page and posts from the campaign have seen success, with several
organically reaching an audience of more than 11,000 users, numbers we’ve
rarely seen before. Additionally, the campaign garnered the attention of the
National Society of Professional Surveyors who expressed their desire to
replicate our campaign. NYSAPLS is excited to continue this momentum
into the new year.
Looking forward to 2022, we are excited to kick off the “New Year, New
Career” campaigns and we have a stacked calendar for the remaining
months. The upcoming campaign will be focused on transferable skills
and pathways into the profession. Many of our members found the land
surveying trade later on in their professional lives and made a mid-career
switch. Since the field provides so many opportunities for growth and
ability, we hope to connect with those looking for a change. In addition
to the “New Year, New Career” efforts, the NYSAPLS PR’ Committee is
working on several additional campaigns that will highlight NYSAPLS’
63 Annual Conference, Women’s History Month and National

Surveyors Week.
The New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors believes
that a strong presence on social media directly speaks to the public where
many are consuming their information. Our goal is to attract more people
to the profession and build awareness about what our members do on a
day-to-day basis. We are encouraged by the engagement we have received
from the public and members.
Now, we make the call to you all to keep the momentum going! Membership
plays a critical role in developing content for these campaigns, and we
encourage everybody to keep an eye out for upcoming emails outlining
our exciting plans for 2022. And remember to check out our social media
pages for the latest campaigns and don’t forget to post, share & comment!
