                                                     EMPLOYEE BENEFITS OVERVIEW

                           BENEFIT                                        DESCRIPTION

                                                 Eligible employees, after one year, can receive reimbursement of up to $2,200 per
                                                 academic/fiscal year for college level courses that will prepare them to further the
       Employee Tuition Reimbursement Program
                                                 Alamo Colleges District mission. This includes the employee’s first associates, bachelors,
                                                 masters, doctoral degree or an approved professional certification course.
                                                 Allows eligible employees to save for Health (up to $2650) and Day Care/Elderly Care
       TexFlex Flexible Spending Accounts
                                                 Expenses (up to $5000) tax-free.
       Commuter Spending Account (CSA)           Pretax reimbursement of mass transit and parking fees. Monthly administration fee $3.
                                                 *Only available for the CDHP. Contribution – EE - $45/Fam - $90 per month. Has to be
       Health Savings Account (HSA)*             used for “qualified medical expenses”. May add additional funds up to $3,500/ Fam -
                                                 $7,000 a year. All unused funds carryover to following year.
                                                 *Only available for the CDHP. Additional plan for $180 - $2,650 max. Used in conjunction
       Limited Flexible Spending Account (LFSA)*
                                                 with the HSA. For Dental and Vision expenses.
       Leave - Bereavement                       Up to 3 days paid leave when a death occurs in immediate family of employee.
                                                 Time off to eligible employees without loss of pay or other benefits to fulfill civic duties
       Leave - Civic
                                                 such as jury duty or compliance with subpoenas for court appearances.
                                                 Time off to eligible employees for purposes of study, research, writing, skill upgrading,
       Leave - Developmental
                                                 or other appropriate endeavors, including faculty exchanges.
       Leave - Holiday                           Up to 22 paid holidays for eligible employees, except faculty.
                                                 Time off for personal illness or parent, child, spouse accrues to eligible employees at a
       Leave - Sick
                                                 rate of 4.33 (staff) or 4.44 (faculty) hours per pay period.
                                                 Eligible employees accrue vacation time off each pay period.  The amount of vacation time
       Leave - Vacation                          accrued is dependent on service years or employee classification. Minimum is 3.33 hours per
                                                 pay period, except faculty.
                                                 Eligible employees may take short or long term time off for active duty status.  Short-
       Leave - Military                          term military leave may be eligible for continuation of regular salary and benefit accrual
                                                 at the regular rate while on leave.
       Leave - Personal                          Eligible employees earn 16 hours of personal leave each fiscal year.
                                                 Federally mandated program provides up to 12 weeks of job protected time off to
                                                 eligible employees in a 12 month “rolling period” for:
       Leave - Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Non   •  birth of a child or/and care for newborn child
       Military                                     •  placement of child adoption or foster care
                                                    •  care for employee’s spouse, son, daughter, parent with serious health condition
                                                    •  serious health condition of employee
                                                 Federally mandated program that provides job protected time off to eligible employees
       Leave - Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Military   in a 12 month “rolling period” for:
       Provisions                                   •  Up to 12 weeks military qualifying exigency
                                                    •  Up to 26 weeks military caregiver
       Worker Compensation                       Program compensates employees for employment related illness or injury.
                                                 Eligible employees who have exhausted all paid leave and meet the applicable criteria
       Emergency Sick Leave Pool                 may apply for additional sick leave to prevent loss of salary caused by a catastrophic
                                                 illness or injury.
                                                 Employees, retirees and their immediate families can take advantage of discounts
       Employee Discounts
                                                 available to Alamo Colleges District from a variety of different companies.
