motive behind every rule and regulation or commandment – Jesus makes this
          very clear – is love.

He didn’t say “I came to control them and

make them boring.” He revealed his motive
behind on the rules and commandments in
John 10:10 – “I came that they may have life
and have it to the full.” The same is true

when it comes to the command to worship
and to go to Mass. He is not giving us this
command to take away our freedom and our
fun but because he is a father who wants to

feed us with what is best for us.

We have a God who commands us to
worship: Keep holy the Sabbath. It is one of
the 10 commandments. From the very first days of Christianity we’ve observed

that commandment by going to Mass every Sunday on the day Jesus Christ rose
from the dead. By doing this we also obey Jesus commandment to “do this in
memory of me” that he gave us at the last supper.

So how is that command motivated by what is good for us? How is it

          motivated by love?

Because God is our Creator and He knows
how we are made. We are made to worship.
If we worship God and he is on the throne of

our hearts, everything else in our lives is in
its proper place but if he is not, we will
worship other things and they will end up

taking their place on the throne of our hearts.

It is not difficult to see this in our world today. Look at how much we love
College Football and how much time and energy

goes into watching one game. Look at how much
of our time is spent in following movie stars and

musicians on Instagram and Twitter or music

festivals; look at time spent shopping on the
internet or looking in the mirror. If we don’t
worship God, we end up worshipping one thing
