Summer 2019

                                                                     BELLA VISTA NEWS

                              Welcome

                              By Dr Charles Lo

Welcome! I am happy to say I am settling in and proud of our team
Gloria and Valmai with their hats on Melbourne
and the positive changes happening. Thank you for all your feedback Cup Day
in our annual survey. Our aim is to ensure you receive the best care. I
appreciate our team for their hard work and will continue to improve
on all aspects of Bella Vista Gardens. I am proud to say we sent seven
of our staff to do a three‐day course with Dementia Australia. The
feedback was that they learnt a lot about dementia and were eager
to apply their knowledge and put it into practice. We will aim to have
more staff do this dementia training course in the future.

We are coming into the hot summer months. The way the weather is
presenting itself now indicates that there is a high chance of a hot
summer. When we have hot days, I would like to request you stay Jasper & Cooper Donley perform for residents
indoors to keep cool and drink lots of fluid to avoid heat exhaustion
and dehydration. The festive season is fast approaching, and this will
be a busy period for all. We have a Christmas luncheon on 11
December and family members are invited to attend but due to
catering and space restrictions we request one family member per
resident attend, which I'm sure you can understand.

One of the joys of being at work is to visit residents during breakfast
time. I love to engage with residents, hear their concerns and they
love to share their stories with me. I believe these stories are
valuable and I get a lot out of these in understanding our residents
Helen with her daughter Sue at Pets on the Lawn
when it comes to their care. The Leisure & Lifestyle team are doing a
great job putting on some engaging activities. I look forward to a
performance from the new Choir Group that Sally has established.
Also, kudos to our Personal Carers in Camellia who are taking the
time to engage and provide new activities for our residents.

         Merry Christmas!

Dr Charles Lo, Director of Care Services
Kathleen at the Hydro Majestic High Tea
