                                                     Meet Kunju Rajbhandari

I am Cranbrook Care's Financial Accountant and love to
take photos for my Instagram account.

Recently I went back home to Nepal to visit my family during Diwali. I
was away for four weeks and took a side trip to Sikkim in Northern
India. The State of Sikkim is bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. It is
part of the Himalayas; the area has a dramatic landscape. Sikkim is
also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of
wildflowers. Steep paths lead to hilltop Buddhist monasteries such as
Pemayangtse, which dates to the early 1700s. The perfect place to
                                                    practice my photography skills!
Above is Tsomgo Lake, it is a holy lake which is frozen over during
winter. From a certain angle the shape of the lake represents the map
of India. In my photo I've captured the reflection of the surrounding
                                                    mountains.
Top left is a photo of a monastery where the primary attraction is the
gigantic Chenrezig Statue. The rotating gold prayer wheels are used to
accumulate wisdom and good karma and to purify negativities in
                                                    Buddism.
In the bottom photo at Tsomgo Lake, are the colourfully adorned Yaks
which are ridden by tourists. Yaks are commonly found in the
Himalayan region to transport goods and are domesticated animals in
                                                    Sikkim.
