Summer 2017

                                                                     BAYSWATER NEWS

                                     Welcome

                                     By Kathrin Bogunovic

Residents toured the Sydney Opera House
It has been a very exciting past few months. Our accreditation took
place in November 2017. Our staff supported by the management
team from West Street have been preparing for the accreditation
process from the day Bayswater Gardens opened in February 2017.
Tremendous amounts of improvements to management systems
and care processes have been made to ensure compliance with
current legislations under the Aged Care Act and Quality Care
Principles. On behalf of the team, I would like to thank all our
residents and families for their support and positive feedback during
the visit from the Quality Agency.
                                                                          Picnic at Blaxland Riverside Park
It is with sadness I report that Elizabeth Armstrong has left
Bayswater Gardens. Her parting message can be found on page 2.
She is now on a well‐deserved break spending time with her family.
We wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.

I would like to take this opportunity to talk about a topic many try to
avoid. However, I believe ‘knowledge is power’. Many people
believe palliative care is ‘end of life’ care. This is not true. Palliative
care is about comfort and dignity and appropriate for people in all
disease stages, including those undergoing treatment for curable Market day
illnesses, living with chronic diseases and end of life care. Palliation
is care centred on each person, sees every person as a unique
individual with diverse wishes and needs and provides services that
allow each person to retain choice, dignity and control. At
Bayswater Gardens we plan to implement a new and innovative
delivery of services, underpinned by research and evidence. With
the support of all involved, we plan to implement additional
         processes.

With the start of the festive season our Event Committee has been
very busy planning and organising staff and residents Christmas
parties and our Carols by Candlelight. We hope to see you all there. I Remembrance Day
wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

Kathrin Bogunovic, Director of Care Services
