         Leisure & Lifestyle Update

Leisure & Lifestyle have been busy this Summer.
In January Keff McCulloch wooed us with his Recognising Our Staff
repertoire of Aussie songs for Australia Day; our old
stand-by pianist/singer Eileen Russel with her
During the year we award staff with our
sparkly tops belted out the 1940s numbers; the
fabulous soprano, Donna Cain again made the hair monthly Standing Ovation Award and
$150 in recognition of upholding the
on the backs of our necks stand up, especially with
her version of ‘Nessun Dorma’. Cranbrook Care values.
Excitingly, we started a brand-new Singing Group Rashmi Joshi
with Fiona Maria who taught us breathing and pitch
as well as dividing us up to sing good old ‘Frere Thank you for the respect you show to
our residents and your peers. It is greatly
Jaques’ and ‘Row Row Row Your Boat’. It was great appreciated and does not go unnoticed.
fun and will continue on a monthly basis.

In Cooking Club, we made our own Chinese fried Sonam Choden
rice, Australian damper, NZ asparagus rolls and Thank you for your caring nature. It is
Hokey Pokey ice cream. In Tasting Group, we
great appreciated by our residents and
sampled an array of potato chips, voting good old doesn't go unnoticed.
          plain salted the tastiest!.
Of course we celebrated Chinese New Year, Lilibeth Tubinovic
Australia Day and New Zealand Waitangi Day along Thank you for the passion you show in
with famous January people where we looked at
                                                                  your role to our residents.
Dolly Parton, Lucille Ball and the artists, Cezanne,
Manet and Hunter (the first female African
American painter to have her own exhibition).
For Australia Week we marvelled at the movies
‘Ladies in Black’ where our ladies revelled in the
quintessential fashions of the 1950s and the
wonderful department store depicted, a barely
disguised DJs of that era. We also re-watched the
great Baz Luhrmann film ‘Australia’ starring our
favourites Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman.

Valentine’s Day was rejoiced with the original story
of Saint Valentine, a romantic song concert by the
talented singer and performer, Annette Von Roden
ending the week with a scrumptious High Tea.
We continue with our favourite exercise classes,
          Better Balance Class with our own physio, Amita;
Dance Therapy Class with Pamela and we have just
begun a new Falls Prevention Class with an outside
          facilitator.

And we have much more up our sleeves – watch out
for the Jazz on the Green and the Wine and Cheese
Festival as well as Easter and Mother’s Day.

Brendon giving the bus outing a thumbs up!
