Autumn 2019

                                                               WILLIAM CAPE NEWS

                               Welcome

                               By Cathy Blomquist

Welcome! We are pleased to announce that our new
Optometry service provider, National Eye Care, will be visiting
William Cape Gardens for the first time during March. National
Eye Care encourages all our residents to have their eyes tested
annually for early detention of eye related health issues. Please
see our friendly staff at Reception for further information. As
our refurbishment project nears completion, the team are now
quietly working “behind the scenes” to put the finishing
                                                                      Juliet at Budgewoi Park
touches on each area. Our new artwork has arrived and the
playful scenes in the main corridor have become a point of
interest. We acknowledge that some residents who use
wheelchairs have advised us that they are experiencing
difficulties with the flooring join installed between their
bedroom carpet and bathrooms floor. We have been advised
that these joins will be replaced in the coming weeks with a
lower profile solution which we hope will alleviate the issues
experienced. I am happy to inform you that we have been
successful in recruiting to our vacant second Clinical Care
Manager position. We welcome Tracy Short to the clinical team
and I look forward to introducing you to Tracy in the coming
         weeks.
Autumn is that time of year we again offer Influenza
vaccinations to our residents and staff as recommended to
prevent infection and related complications. It is also timely to
remind our friends & families if they are unwell with cold or flu Robert playing the harmonica to residents
symptoms to delay visiting the facility until feeling better to
minimize the chances of spreading infection. Just a reminder, I
am always happy to meet with you to discuss any concerns you
may have. Please feel free to “pop” into my office, chat as you
see me on my daily rounds throughout the home or contact me
via Reception or email anytime. Until next time,

Cathy Blomquist, Director of Care Services
Valda with Santa at the resident Christmas event
