Meet a Resident

Peter Jones

Greetings from Bayswater Gardens!

I'm delighted to introduce myself, Peter Jones,
as part of our vibrant community. Originally
hailing from England, I spent my formative
years in the charming suburb of Eastcote,
located just outside London. Following my
academic journey, I dedicated two years to
compulsory national service, where I
monitored Soviet troop movements from East
Germany—a unique and impactful experience.

My educational pursuits led me to Oxford
University, shaping my intellectual foundation
over three enriching years. Subsequently, I
embarked on a remarkable 26-year career with
BOAC, taking me across diverse countries such
as Mexico, USA, Zambia, Nigeria, Burma, and
the Caribbean. Post-BOAC, I delved into the
realms of travel and tourism consultancy with
the Bahamas Tourist Board.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I've been
an active participant in various sports, including
cricket, tennis, squash, and rugby. While my
days on the golf course ended last year, my
passion for the sport persists, evident in my
enjoyment of watching cricket and golf on
television. As an ardent reader and cryptic
crossword enthusiast, I find joy in intellectual
pursuits.

More than a year ago, I made the momentous
decision to relocate to Australia, drawn by the
desire to be closer to my daughter Diana and
the extended family. Reflecting on what I hold
most dear, my response encapsulates the pride
I take in my daughters and the cherished
memories of a blissful marriage to a wonderful
woman. It's a pleasure to be part of Bayswater
Gardens, and I look forward to sharing more
moments and stories within our community.
