a poem turns inward

a poem turns inward
from its rim of words

to its hub of meaning

by what is left unspoken.

a pitcher enriches

by voiding its fill,
nourishing the pour.

the inside of a cottage

discloses by its open door

nature’s leafing.

a rope has many uses

before it is used,
but only one during.

its strength is tied

to what is knot.

and his “Tools”)
