ARGENTINA Downtown Providing Fascinating Travel Experiences
With the building and development of Jesuit estancias (haciendas), the most famous of which are the Jesuit Estancias of Cordoba. Jesuit mis- sionaries have greatly contributed to the development of agriculture and animal husbandry in the vast territory of the Jesuit Province of Paraguay. And thereby, to the development of the Spanish colony. During the 17th and 18th centuries, these Jesuit estancias became famous because the Companions of Jesus were the only ones able to organize areas of this magnitude. They were of great help to the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. During this tour you'll witness the results of their efforts.
Day 1: Cordoba.
Arrival at C—rdoba's Airport and transfer to the selected hotel. In the afternoon, we make a walking tour where we visit the Jesuit Block which
the main buildings of the former Jesuit Province of Paraguay: the church, the Jesuit priests' residence, the university and Colegio Convictorio de Monserrat. Then time at leisure to relax.
Day 2: Cordoba
We leave the city towards a region full of history, culture and local traditions. The first visit is Jesuit Estancia of Jesœs Mar’a. In 1618, the Jesuits acquired twenty thousand grape varieties, the
mill and animals. After years of work, the Jesuits could make the first American wine served in Europe and they named it 'Lagrimilla de Oro (ÒLittle Gold TearÓ). It is now time to explore the viniculture side of the region. We'll visit three wineries: a small winery, another one with a traditional vineyard and long tradition in the industry; and Terra Camiare, a gourmet vineyard where we discover
