Melbourne, Great Ocean Road
Melbourne is stylish, vibrant and regarded as the cultural capital of Australia. A city with stately 19th- century buildings and tree-lined boulevards. Southbank is home to The Arts Centre Melbourne and The National Gallery of Victoria display- ing Australian and Indigenous art. The city offers fine restaurants, opulent bars, off-the-beaten-track boutiques and a maze of hidden laneways.
Explore Fitzroy Gardens, including Cook’s Cottage, the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Shrine of Remembrance. Travel over the Westgate Bridge, drive along the Grand Prix Track and see the Melbourne Cricket Ground, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Arts Centre, Crown Casino and Port Phillip Bay. [B]
Day 3: Melbourne Great Ocean Road
Join a small group tour with driver- guide. We will make plenty of stops along the way. There will be opportu- nities to spot some famous Australian animals, stop at a lighthouse and take in the wild scenery and breathe in the fresh air. Enjoy the breathtaking views over the Southern Ocean and stop for a little rainforest walk to appreciate the cool climate and heavy rain that this region enjoys. We will treat you to a light lunch and the chance to chat to your fellow travelers. Later in the day, head towards the limestone rock formations otherwise known as the 12 Apostles. Nearby you will discover another ancient natural attraction; Loch Ard Gorge where you will hear the story of the shipwreck and its survivors. Dip your feet in the water at the Gorge’s quaint beach and you will never want to leave. But alas, it’s time to return to Melbourne. [B/L]
