George Blagden: After leaving Oundle, I went to study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. I graduated in 2011, leaving early in my final term to shoot a film in Indonesia called After the Dark. Since then I have been acting professionally in film, television and theatre, in projects such as Les Misérables, Vikings and Versailles. I have spent this year in the West End, firstly with the bi- lingual production of Tartuffe at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and subsequently I will appear in Stephen Sondheim’s reimagined Company at the Gielgud Theatre from September 2018, directed by Marianne Elliott.
Phillip Cattle: After a gap year travelling and teaching sailing, I spent three great years at Durham University. Since then I have worked at the Foreign Office in London and after two years of intensive Mandarin language training, I now cover Chinese foreign and security policy at the British Embassy in Beijing.
Nicholas Chambers: After leaving Oundle, I spent some time living and working in South Africa, before travelling for a few months with Josh Taylor (St A 08). After that I went to Durham for three years, graduating in 2012. I’ve spent my working life in finance, first as an accountant and more recently in corporate finance. I wouldn’t recommend either and always have one eye on the Lottery! I look back at my five years at Oundle with affection – I learnt a lot and made a number of lifelong friends.
Callum Cheatle: I went to Durham to study Geography, but spent the entire time in the theatre! Next came the gap year and lots of travel. When I got back, I worked on a theatre festival in Ireland and at Theatre503 in London, and survived by tutoring English and Geography. I then started The HandleBards, the world’s first and only cycling Shakespeare company, which is still going strong. Next, I joined WPP and spent a year each in London, Shanghai and New York. I now work in business development
for The&Partnership in London.
Anthony Chee: I studied Engineering at UCL after Oundle. I then spent a year at Tsinghua University in Beijing, learning Mandarin. Since 2013 I’ve been working in Malaysia, overseeing palm oil cultivation and manufacturing, and the distribution of edible ice. I’m getting married in December 2018.
Chao Xiang Chong: After Oundle I returned to Singapore to serve 22 months of National Service. I was fortunate to be posted to something different, the explosive ordnance disposal unit, where I achieved the rank of 2nd Sergeant. I then went on to study Economics and Statistics at UCL while completing internships at RBS. In my third year of undergrad I realised the selling side was not for me and applied to do a Masters in Industrial Systems, Manufacturing and Management in Cambridge. I had a great time visiting production sites around the country, spending a week each in Thailand and Vietnam, and partying with my course mates. After graduating, I moved straight to Hong Kong, where I'm currently based, working as an equity analyst covering global emerging markets.
William Darrell: I studied Sculpture at Edinburgh University and later did my Masters at the Royal College of Art in London. I am a practising artist, working mostly with kinetic sculpture and performance-centred around invented functional but essentially useless apparatus.
Freddie Hodgson: After leaving school and taking a gap year, I studied
History and Spanish at Durham University, where I made lots of new friends. I then became a recruiter for a few years before a mid-20s crisis hit me and I became a teacher in South Croydon. I currently live in Bermondsey, where I enjoy paying off Harry Millington's mortgage!
Harry Millington: After a year of travelling and a Zoology degree from Newcastle, I decided I wasn’t ready for work, so I took another year out and became a scuba-diving instructor in Aruba. Since then I’ve completed a Planning and Development Master’s degree at London South Bank University and have been working for a property development consultancy ever since. In a strange turn of events, I have ended up living with Harriet Scriven (L 08) and Fred Hodgson in Bermondsey.
Nico Rice: After leaving Oundle, I volunteered in American politics during my gap year, before getting my degree at Duke University in North Carolina (in, inevitably, Political Science and Public Policy). I volunteered a bit more on the side. I then fled up to Toronto, Canada, falling into comedy, which I have performed across North America. I recently completed a graduate course in TV Writing & Producing, and am working in that sector.
Ben Slingsby: After Oundle I spent three highly enjoyable years in Oxford, occasionally studying History, before completing a Masters in Business & Finance in London and Paris. I started my career in London at a German investment bank, before moving to an American fund
