moved to Italy for two years to learn to paint classically under the tutorage of Charles Cecil in Florence. I am now self-employed and have a wonderful studio in Fulham, where I take portrait and still-life commissions, which I paint from life. I recently won a prize from Charleston to be commissioned by Sir Tim Berners-Lee. I have also been lucky enough to paint a few of the old Sanderson girls when I can bribe them to sit for me!
Philippa Saunders (neé Harrison): Four happy years spent studying at the University of St Andrews and a further year at Leiden University in the Netherlands were followed by a stint at J.P. Morgan Cazenove. A serendipitous meeting with polar explorer Ben Saunders led to a career change and recent marriage! I managed Ben’s latest expedition to cross Antarctica on foot, solo and unassisted, and we are spending the summer in France while we plan the next adventure.
Tessa Wharton: I took a year out after leaving Oundle and spent five months working as a chalet girl in Méribel, followed by three months in Borneo working for a charity preserving coral reefs, building schools and helping the orangutans! I then went on to study Marine Geography at Cardiff University for four years, spending the summers working for an NGO on the Greek island of Samos. Since graduating, I have been working for Oil Spill Response, based in Southampton. The job does exactly what it says on the tin – no day is ever the same, whether out on the water training clients, delivering consultancy work to oil giants or responding to spills all over the world! Through work I have had the opportunity to travel to places I would never imagine (Greenland to name one), but also some I’m not so keen to return to (the deepest parts of West Africa)! I live with my fiancé in our country cottage just outside Winchester and we spend our weekends playing hockey and paddle boarding in the warmer months, oh, and planning our wedding for this July!

Charlotte Anthony: After four years at St Andrews University, studying an MA in Geography, I did a short course on set design. I'm now working as a draughtsman in the UK film industry. Recent projects include Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), Dumbo (2019) and The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle (2019). I'm currently living in Ealing, London.
Victoria Dorrell: After Oundle, I decamped to Scotland, where I spent five enjoyable years at Edinburgh Medical School, studying to become a doctor. From there I completed my foundation years of training, first in South London, then Glasgow, after which I moved to Australia to spend some time abroad, enjoying a more relaxed work-life balance. After two years of working and living in Sydney (with stints in Canberra and Brisbane), I returned to the UK last summer to start my surgical training. I am now based in South-East London and have recently passed my MRCS surgical exams, conversely meaning I drop 'Dr' and return to 'Miss' status. As I write this,
I am sat in the surgical office at work hoping not to get bleeped! I have loved being back in the UK this past year, regularly meeting up with old Oundle friends, and I am looking forward to a holiday with a some of them this September.
Emily Duggan: After Oundle I trained to be a doctor and undertook a Masters of research looking at breast reconstruction. I am now training as a surgeon in Oxford and am pursuing a career in plastic and reconstructive surgery. My best friends are still those I made at Oundle and I will never forget my wonderful time there. I very much hope to be able to give my children such an opportunity in the future. A special thanks to Mr Hammond (my A level Chemistry teacher, now Proctor of Studies) for telling me I would never be a doctor and should consider another career path. This very helpful advice was something I always had in mind when I was at medical school. To you, Mr Hammond, here is a ceremonious and smug: “I told you so!”
Louisa Risch: After finishing my degree at Edinburgh College of Art, I
