Health and Community Champions at


           Trinity Health Oakland Hospital




                                     Dr. Shahid W. Jamil is a distinguished board-certified psychiatrist whose career spans more than five
                                     decades, marked by significant contributions to psychiatric care, clinical research, and medical
                                    education. He is affiliated with Trinity Health Michigan and practices across multiple locations in

                                    Southeast Michigan, including Bloomfield Hills and Pontiac.

                                      Dr. Jamil earned his medical degree from Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh in 1974. He completed
                                      a rotating internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan, followed by his psychiatric
                                      residency at Michigan State University. He subsequently achieved board certification from the
                                    American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.


                                    Throughout his career, Dr. Jamil has specialized in treating a broad range of mental health conditions,
                                      including bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and anxiety disorders.
                                      Known for his compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, he offers both in-person and
                                      telehealth appointments and continues to welcome new patients. His commitment to excellence is
                                      reflected in consistently high patient satisfaction ratings, highlighting his professionalism and
                                    dedication.


                                    An engaged member of the professional community, Dr. Jamil actively participates in several
                                    organizations, including the American Medical Association, Michigan State Medical Society, Oakland
              Shahid W. Jamil, MD   County Medical Society, American Psychiatric Association, and Michigan Psychiatric Society. He has

     Board-Certi�ied Psychiatrist |   held multiple leadership roles within the field and has been repeatedly recognized for his contributions
                                    to medical education. From 1991 to 1997, he received the Outstanding Active Teacher Award annually

                                    from the American Academy of Family Physicians, underscoring his lasting impact on the training of
                                    future healthcare professionals.
                                      In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Jamil has been an active scholar and research leader. He has
                                    directed central nervous system research projects, consulted on study design and implementation,
                                    chaired scientific committees, and played an instrumental role in establishing international clinical
                                    research networks.





     Dr. Camelia V. Arsene is a physician-educator and public health scholar with

     extensive experience in medical education and clinical research. She currently

     serves as the Associate Program Director for the Transitional Year Residency

     Program and the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education at Trinity Health

     Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan.


     In her academic roles, Dr. Arsene is instrumental in shaping the educational

     experiences of both medical students and residents. She is a key faculty member in   Camelia V. Arsene, MD, PhD, MHS

     the Internal Medicine Residency Program, where she leads scholarly activities and        Associate Program Director,

     co-authored a study evaluating the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in adults

     with hematologic malignancies, reflecting her commitment to advancing medical

     knowledge and patient care.
