Enriching Lives Through the Human-Animal Bond

The Pet-A-Pet Club, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Southeast Michigan that brings joy, comfort, and
comp anionship to those who need it most. Founded in 1986 by the late Ruth Curry and a handful of dedicated volunteers,

the Club has grown to include over 300 members who regularly visit nursing homes, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and
assist ed-living facilities across Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, and Washtenaw counties.

Recognizing the power of early education, the Club also established a humane education program in 1992 in Livonia

public schools to teach children kindness, empathy, and respect for animals.

The therapeutic benefits of these interactions are well documented: pet therapy can reduce blood pressure, alleviate

loneliness and depression, stimulate conversation and laughter, and foster a sense of love and acceptance. As an

American Kennel Club (AKC)-recognized therapy organization, Pet-A-Pet also enables participating dogs to earn the

        official Therapy Dog title.
