HOT AUGUST NIGHTS
Classic Cool for a Retro Good Time
Hot August Nights is a week long festival devoted to
celebrating classic cars and rock and roll, all while helping
to raise money for children and communities at risk.
Started as a one off fundraiser during the steamy summer
of 1986, the original festival was more about reliving the
long ago joy of classic American rock and summer lovin’ at
its very finest. As the cool tunes played and people
gathered to wax nostalgic however, event organizers
couldn’t help but notice the fleets of classic cars that filled
the streets. Thus, Hot August Nights as we know it was
born!
Now, nearly 30 years later, Hot August Nights has become
a Reno institution. The festival offers affordably priced
tickets to both the auction and drag races, as well as
totally free live music concerts at a range of locations in
the Reno/Sparks area. Approximately 6,000 classic cars
are registered every year, making it the largest classic car
and nostalgia event in the entire country!
To get involved, you can register your own car by visiting
the official Hot August Nights website, or simply check out
any of the seven Reno locations where Hot August Nights
is held each year. It’s a great way to celebrate the cool
collectors and vintage aficionados that help make Reno
one of the coolest, quirkiest areas around, and it’s also a
great way to support a range of educational and
enrichment programs for children through the Hot August
Nights Foundation. To show your support, you can
donate directly to the Foundation, which provides
scholarships and supports education programs in the area,
or, you can participate in one of the Foundation’s exciting
raffles and try your hand at winning your very own classic
car to showcase in next year’s event!
