Thank you for making the prettiest dress I’d ever owned for my
communion when I was 8 – just from looking at one in the store window.
You were a magician! And thank you, for spending hours making crucial
last minute adjustments to the prettiest dress I’ve worn since, when I
was 28.
I’ll never look at my wedding photos without offering you a little prayer.
That gown held up like a dream during the first dance, thanks to your
expert hands, your careful eye.
Thank you for passing on your zest for life to my dad, and to all of us.
Thank you for bringing your big, bustling, boisterous family together
with your warmth, your hospitality, and that little bell.
For the making, the baking, the sewing, the stories. For living life to the
fullest so we can celebrate you today to the fullest.
As you said, like clockwork, every night during that Europe trip back in
2004, you’ll sleep well tonight. You sure deserve it.
And thank you for leaving us with so much to be grateful for. For the
daily reminder of your love for us all, and for the example of your
independence, your principles and your strength.
You’ve taught us so much, and we are all the richer for it. We love you
dearly.
Love,
Samanthy
