Page 7 - Gwen Landsberry - Eulogies
P. 7
Gwennie was Anzac Biscuits. Her husband, Alf, and many of her 11
siblings served in the Second World War. So every time Gwennie baked
Anzac biscuits, she honoured them.
Gwennie was Christmas Pudding. Rich and warm and generously filled
with tiny treasures. It was no secret that David hoarded many of the
shillings, sixpences and tuppences Gwennie so lovingly baked in her
pudding every year. So much so, that he had 3 or 4 servings every
sitting... and made a tidy profit.
And finally, Gwennie was her signature Sausage Rolls. Perhaps a little
flaky on the outside but filled with such delicious and satisfying
goodness that people just couldn’t get enough of her.
I have no doubt that Gwennie is, once again, sitting at her family table
and enjoying some good, old fashioned cooking.
She’s surrounded by O’Briens, her husband Alf, anyone she’s ever loved
and lost… and the light of God.
The shandies are flowing, the sausage rolls abundant and the chatter...
blessedly endless.
Vale Gwennie. You’re in Heaven.
