 Philanthropy
EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION AND DONOR STEWARDSHIP
I wanted to do something special with the Philanthropy Team, Devin
Scott and Tara Cunningham, in honor of employee appreciation. Being
a small but mighty team we were able to go to lunch (outdoors and masked) to Los Agaves. After lunch we had a tour of Direct Relief with Damon Taugher, VP Global Programs. Direct Relief generously contributed $500,000 to Sansum Clinic last May for the Pandemic Relief Fund. Their leadership support at a crucial time during the pandemic was a catalyst for others to do the same. This was a huge example of leadership by example. In the world of philanthropy you
can never say thank you enough and to be
able to do it in person and get a tour
of their global set-up was pretty cool.
They certainly made us feel really special with our names on their marquee.

Sansum Clinic in the News
Our providers and staff are busy protecting our community from COVID-19 and helping patients catch up on medical appointments they perhaps delayed due to coronavirus. Over the last few months, members of our team have played an important role informing the public on the most critical issues affecting health by sharing their knowledge with media outlets such as The Santa Barbara Independent, Santa Barbara News-Press, Noozhawk.com, KEYT-TV, KSBY-TV and others.
Medical Director Dr. Marjorie Newman has been an invaluable resource not only to the Santa Barbara Public Health Department, but also to the press. She shared her expertise with the Santa Barbara News-Press on COVID-19
variants, and with the KZSB AM radio show CSUCI Presents About Education to discuss the clinic’s role during the pandemic, COVID-19 vaccinations and much more.
CEO and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kurt Ransohoff and Operations Director Kim Hurley, RN headlined a Santa Barbara News-Press article about vaccinations for teachers, encouraging the public to not delay getting their shots
on KEYT-TV. Dr. Ransohoff’s interview with Montecito Journal was their cover story about how Sansum Clinic offers cutting-edge medicine and an incredible array of experienced physicians and staff members.
Community leaders have relied heavily on wisdom from Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. David Fisk to understand the many facets of COVID-19. He spoke to KEYT-TV about COVID-19 testing and new treatments for coronavirus.
He joined Rheumatologist Dr. Stuart Segal to discuss immunocompromised patients in the Santa Barbara News- Press.
