Mr. John challenged his third graders to work in groups to make a tower
out of cards. At first, they did not understand what this challenge had to do with
___________. In the first group, Josh started by leaning tow cards against each
other. Cyrus wanted to use four cards to start with a square. “Wow! Exclaimed Mr.
John. “You both have a different _______________ for how to build a tower. What
can you do to work together?” The second group asked the

___________________ with two cards each. The third group asked Mr. John if
they could look it up on the internet. When Mr. John looked at them funnily, they
replied, “You said that _______________________ often do
_________________ about their topic before they begin.” Mr. John laughed but
couldn’t argue with their request. After ten minutes, Mr. John said it was time to
share their ___________________. Some groups were able to make tower and
some groups were not. “What __________________ can we draw from this
investigation?” Mr. John asked the class. Josh raised his hand and said, “When
scientist conduct the scientific method, they have to work as a team or their whole
experiment will collapse just like our card tower!”
Part B. Consider the problems you can observe in your community and think of a
way on how to solve it by applying the Scientific Method.
You did great! Now, to check if you really
understand this lesson, let’s answer the
evaluation part so, we can proceed to the next
lesson.
