INTRODUCTION

Now, let’s review the important concepts
about Science that you have learned in
                                     the previous grade levels.

As how it is being described in schools or on references, Science is an
organized body of knowledge that is based from observation, research,
experimentation and facts. Science is more about doing than knowing. Scientists are

continuously trying to discover and learn more to have a better understanding of the
natural world. There are fundamental methods used in obtaining knowledge that is
common to all of science. At the heart of science is the scientific investigation.

Science is actually a complicated endeavor that cannot be simplified to a
single, linear sequence of steps, like the instructions on a package of cake mix. Real
science is nonlinear, iterative (repetitive), creative, unpredictable, and exciting.
Scientists often undertake the steps of an investigation in a different sequence, or
they repeat the same steps many times as they gain more information and develop
               new ideas.
In this lesson you will be able to do the following:
Content Standard: Demonstrate understanding of scientific ways of acquiring

               knowledge and solving problems.
Performance Standard: Perform in groups in guided investigations involving
community-based problems using locally available materials.

Most Essential Learning Competency: Describe the components of a scientific
               investigation.
               Objectives: a) Describe scientific investigation.

                              b) Apply the steps of scientific method.

                              c) Value the importance of scientific method in scientific investigation.

Let’s now do some activities to give you some
                                                                 ideas about our lesson.
