STAMPEDE RODEO EVENTS
TEAM ROPING
Partner- Sublimity Insurance / Heritage
What to watch for:
• The clock starts once the ropers leave their respective boxes. It stops when their ropes are tight and their horses are facing each other.
• If the heeler catches only one leg, a five second penalty is assessed; if the header fails to give the steer its allotted head start, the team receives a 10-second penalty. • A figure eight around the horns is a no-time or disqualification
BARREL RACING
Partner-Wilbur Ellis Agribusiness
What to watch for:
• The contestant to enter the race at a full gallop and the time starts as the horse crosses the Score Line.
• Watch for the horse and rider to work together in perfect harmony at a full run with dirt flying, it may cause you to forget to breathe.
• The contestant can choose to go to the left barrel or right, whichever. A 360 turn is re- quired around the barrel to the next barrel opposite it, then around that to the third and last barrel for the final turn. Then the race is on to the finish line.
• Speed is everything so electronic timers are used and the final result can come down to a hundredth of a second. The horse must be fast and agile enough to turn on a dime.
BREAKAWAY ROPING
Partner – Wilco Farm Stores
What to watch for:
• The Ropers to start from the roping box to the right side.
• For the Calf to have a ten foot head start.
• For the calf to break the rope away from the ropers saddle horn • And the fastest time to win
BULL RIDING
Partner-A&W Restaurant- Stayton
What to watch for:
• The cowboy to try to ride the bull for eight seconds while holding a bull rope looped around the bull’s midsection.
• For the Scoring to be based on a possible perfect score of 100 points, with half deriving from the contestant’s efforts and half the bull’s.
• To make sure the Riders do not use their freehand, this is not allowed.
• For the rider to fall off before the buzzer sounds, if it does the contest is over.
