Your Fear
You are worried that your ability to achieve personal goals and objectives will be limited if you commit to imitating the leader.
Your Gain
Imitation actually sets the follower up to do "greater works." Recall that Jesus said that the one who follows Him will do "greater works" than He did.
That shows that imitation actually sets you up to trump the leader in terms of personal achievement. Imagine that 5,000 people got born again at a time which did not happen in the days of Jesus.
