You are worried that imitation will place a lid on your personal potentials.
Peter said that they had "left all" to follow Jesus! He expressed concern about their ability to exploit their potential.

Peter's fear was allayed by Jesus' response. He discovered that by following and imitating Jesus, their potential had multiplied far beyond their imagination!
They were now to expect a 100-fold return on whatever they had sacrificed, even their so-called personal potentials, and also what was far more valuable than all of that - 'eternal life.'
