KEEP THEM FROM EVIL The point being made here is that the evil one is one to watch out for at all times on our journey of faith because he comes up again and again, seeking the same thing, and never gets tired. Thus, a prayer against him ought also to be top priority in our prayer lives. By remembering to pray against the evil on our behalf and that of the disciples at that point in His journey, Jesus was being consistent in the pattern that His life has shown. If you examine carefully the prayer that he taught His disciples to pray, you will find this prayer point incorporated also. Can you imagine that? Matthew 6:13 AMP ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. \[For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.\]’ He taught us to pray that the Lord God should “deliver us from evil” (or deliver us from the evil one). This is exactly the same prayer that Jesus Himself prayed in John 17:15. It is again unfortunate that very many children of God have not taken to heart the Lord’s prayer, to pray it earnestly on a consistent basis. My view is that we are only undoing ourselves and undermine the benefits we stand to enjoy 143.
