BULLSEYE PRAYERS from a committed prayer life by continuing to treat the Lord’s prayer as a benediction prayer. The consistency with which Jesus upheld the prayer from what we have seen all through His journey constitutes sufficient evidence that the prayer is crucial for our spiritual wellbeing and successful walk with Him. That we be kept from evil is a prayer that must not depart from our mouths at all times; indeed, on daily basis as the Lord’s prayer suggests. The fact that the Lord’s prayer says at some point, “Give us this day our daily bread” indicates that it is a prayer to offer daily. So, we are expected to pray for deliverance from the evil one on daily basis as well. The Prayer is Sufficient Again, I want to say that the prayer that we be kept from the evil one is sufficient for us to pray as constructed. In essence, I am suggesting that it is right to pray as follows, “Lord, keep us from the evil one.” In the alternative, we can pray according to the Lord’s prayer by saying, “... deliver us from evil.” I am guided by the fact that Jesus said the prayer precisely this way. Accordingly, I believe they are adequately structured and do not require any embellishment. The Lord who asked us to pray in this manner, and actually prayed in the same way Himself, and received 144.
