BULLSEYE PRAYERS the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, \[3\] To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” The Lord Jesus was anointed to basically set the captives free. It was to enforce freedom for those who are oppressed in one way or the other by adversaries. However, specifically in verse 3 we are told of the purpose. The motivation behind the deliverance intervention is so that those delivered will be “trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” The end of securing deliverance from God must be to glorify His name. It must also be to establish us as trees of righteousness in His vineyard. It is important to mind these two objectives when we seek God in prayers offered after this manner. We should not seek God with the wrong motivation. It should not be so that we can return to sin after we have been healed. You will recall that Jesus often told those who benefitted from His healing and deliverance ministry that they should go and ‘sin no more.’ 94.
