as much. Here is a 7L6B Turk’s Head into which is
woven a 5L6B Turk’s Head. This version is more
stable in cord, because the cord is trapped by the
interweave. Note the hollow blue threading needle
in the photographs below, which is very useful for
making knots of this and many other over-under
weaves with fine threads. You can purchase them
ready-made at craft stores or on the internet, or
make one yourself from an empty ball-pen ink
reservoir or some fine copper or steel tubing.
3 starting under bight #6, trace pairs of the
existing knot, to the left in this photograph, over,
under, over, under, down to bight #5.
1 Form the base knot, a 7l6B tH Knot doubled
and viewed sideways.
4 From bight #5, where the original cord tucks
under #5, again trace pairs to the left over,
under, over, under to bight #4, but follow the
one that tucked under #5 in the original knot.
2 apply tape and number the upper and lower
bights, even on top and odd below, right to left.
5 From bight #4 to bight #3, again over, under,
Because we have six bights on each end, our
numbers progress from 1 to 12.
