3 Take the strand that was just crossed over and 5 Because this set of strands was laid over anti-
clockwise, they are now tightened clockwise

against the preceding strand and loop to get
this with each strand until you have no more
strands sticking out to cross over. the ring of strands as tight as desired. You can
see from this photograph that a core inside the
passes would help to stabilise the structure. You
will likely need a core on over-one crowning any
time you exceed approximately five strands.
4 To complete the Crown, pass the last strand
over and down into the loop formed by your
first crossing in Stage 2, to complete the circle.
6 Here two passes of Crown Knotting have been
