Brian Vasek
Defensive Run Game Coordinator | Defensive Line Coach
Coach Brian Vasek is beginning his 28th year of coaching and 18th at
Westlake HS, where he helped the Chaps win state championships in 2019,
2020 and 2021. He previously coached at Duncanville HS, winning a state
championship in 1998. Coach Vasek graduated from Smithville HS and
received a football scholarship to the University of Texas. He received a
Bachelor of Science and was a four-year letterman at defensive end at UT.
He teaches P.E. and outdoor education at Westlake. He and his wife Audra
have two boys, Colton and Connor.
Michael McKelvy
Director of Football Operations | Defensive Backs
Coach Michael McKelvy is entering his 14th year of coaching and
10th year at Westlake HS. He helped lead Westlake to three State
Championship titles in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Coach McKelvy pre-
viously coached at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy and St. Gabriel’s
Catholic School. McKelvy graduated from the University of Notre
Dame and received his master’s degree in Education Administration
from Lamar University. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from
Texas Tech School of Law. Coach McKelvy and his wife Kim have
three children, Michael, Mason and Maegan.
Baylor Mullins
Defensive Pass Game Coordinator | Safeties
Coach Baylor Mullins is entering his eighth year of coaching and fifth year
at Westlake HS. Mullins graduated from Merkel HS and then attended the
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where he played football for four years
and won a national championship. Baylor received his degree in Exercise
and Sports Science from UMHB and received a Master of Educational
Administration from Angelo State University. Coach Mullins teaches
Health at Westlake.
