Evangelist Moon Jun-Kyung is called “the mother of the churches in
the islands” and “the passionate evangelist.” There are more than 10
churches established by preacher Moon Jun-Kyung in the islands of
Sinan County. The fruits of the preacher Moon Jun-Kyung include Rev.
Kim Jun-gon, the founder of the Korea Campus Crusade for Christ, and Preacher Moon Jun-Kyung
Rev. Lee Man-shin, the Pastor of Evangelical Holiness Church.
Jeungdong-ri Church (established in September 1933) is one of the churches established by Moon
Jun-Kyung. Born in 1891 in Sugok-ri, Amtae-myeon, Sinan County, preacher Moon Jun-
Kyung married at age 17, but she got deserted by her husband from the first day. Even in
this situation, she was loved by her father-in-law and was able to endure it. She learned
how to write from her father-in-law, and in 1927 she was evangelized by a Bible woman
and became a Christian. She applied to Kyungsung Bible Institute to become a pastor, but
her admission was rejected because she was married. She was accepted as an auditory

learner in the beginning, but later, she became a regular student. After completing her
theology studies, she returned
to her hometown and took care
