                                                                                                        Seongahn Church was established by Rev. Lee Ki-poong Korean, one of
                                                                                                        the first 7 pastors produced by Korean Presbyterian Church, sent to Jeju as
                                                                                                        a missionary. Seongahn Church began with a prayer meeting in Hyanggyo-
                                                                                                        gol by Rev. Lee Ki-poong with three believers. When Rev. Lee Ki-poong
                                                                                                        arrived in Jeju Island, there were
                                                                                                        already believers in Jeju. In 1909, a
                                                                                                        chapel was established by purchasing
                                                                                                        a thatched house with 34㎡ inside
                                                                                                        Jungin Gate in Ildo-ri.
                                                                                                        In 1922, Yeongheung Night School
                                                                                                        was opened, and in 1924, Joongang
                                                                                                        Kindergarten, the first kindergarten
                                                                                                        on Jeju Island, was opened. Seongahn
                                                                                                        Church belongs to the Kijang (The
                                                                                                        Presbyterian church in the Republic of Korea) , and
                                                                                                        the church had to deal with the pain of
                                                                                                        division with Seongnae Church. In the
                                                                                                        courtyard of Seongahn Church, there

               The Hamel Merchant Marine Exhibition Hall near Yongmeori Coast has been
                                                                                                             Jeju Seongahn Church is the first Protestant church in Jeju
                 demolished due to aging. However, you can go to the Hamel Monument.

            The Europeans who first provided the first Western account of Korea were the sailors of the
            Dutch East India Company, who were shipwrecked by a typhoon in waters near Jeju Island
            and drifted to Jeju Island on August 16, 1653.
            The Sparrowhawk, a merchant ship carrying 64 sailors, including Handrick Hamel,
            reportedly encountered a deadly typhoon in the Taiwan Strait while sailing from Taiwan to
            Nakasaki, Japan, and landed near Moseulpo, which was then Daejeonghyeon.

            The Hamel Monument was built on a beachside hill right in front of Sanbanggulsa by the
            Korean International Cultural Association and the Dutch Embassy in Korea on April 1,
