both with regard to the laws of שארה תואפ and
other areas of halacha, such as the laws of Shab-
bat. Regarding שארה תואפ, we have seen that the
law of one who removes his own תואפ and the law
of one who passively allows a gentile to remove
his תואפ depend on this point. In terms of other
areas of halacha, the critical issue of whether one
who physically assists someone to violate a prohi-
bition has also violated that prohibition has also
been shown to revolve around this argument.
