Who is Susie Beloxie White?
Susie Marie Beloxie was born on December 4, 1927, in Natchez, MS, to Pearl Williams
Fitzgerald. She carried the namesake of her grandmother, Susie Gooden. After twelve
years of private school education, she graduated from the Holy Family Catholic School in
Natchez, MS. She was offered a teaching position but instead she opted to marry Louis
White, Jr. on June 1, 1947. To this marriage fifteen children were born, eleven are living.
Susie was married to Louis for 52 years until he transitioned to be with his Heavenly
Father.
She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age and united with the Greater St.
Mark Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the church assistant secretary and was
later appointed as secretary. She also was a Junior Mother of the church. She served as
president of the senior choir for over 30 years. She would often sing lead on her favorite
song, “I Woke Up This Morning with My Mind Stayed on Jesus”. She was a member of
the Junior Matron Association (JMA) for over 30 years and three years of affiliation with
the Natchez Homemakers Club. JMA was later renamed to Willing Workers. She
attended Sunday School and Bible Study weekly.
She got so much pleasure working with the children at Greater St. Mark and several other
churches. She worked with the youths of the church to present Easter and Christmas
productions. She was an amazing cook and had a meticulous way of doing everything,
which included, folding towels, bed sheets and clothing. She loved to talk, she never met
a stranger and she embraced everybody. Children loved to come to her house, and she
would take them home when they were ready to go. She enjoyed helping anyone fold
clothes at the laundry mat and it was just like her to pick up family, friends, and strangers
that were walking. She visited the sick and ran errands for others. Her hobbies included
quilting, sewing, and making ceramic figurines. You would often see head bobbing when
she heard Bill Withers singing “Lean on Me.” She traveled frequently with her children to
attend high school and college graduations, weddings, baptisms, family reunions, and
church conferences to name only a few.
She was a home schooler before it was popular. She taught her children reading, writing,
arithmetic and spelling. She also taught her children to cook, clean, drive, and to respect
themselves and others.
She received numerous awards including the “Woman of the Year” award from Natchez
College.
Susie was well-known and loved by all in the metropolitan area and neighboring counties,
as well as the many places she traveled. She transitioned from this earthly home to her
heavenly home on October 2, 2005, where she is singing, praising and rejoicing with the
Lord.
