RISE
Read in Summer and Excel – Grades K to 8

            What it is

This DRA-leveled reading program has been serving “at-risk” students to prevent “summer
slide” for over 8 years. To ensure that our most vulnerable students will not be without
support and to retain their reading levels, this program has been adapted to an online
platform. Like the onsite program, teachers can assist students in finding “just right”
books to help them retain or improve their reading levels before they return to school.

Sponsored by school divisions and/or schools

            Why RISE?

            • Provides school division/schools an
opportunity to invest in a reading
              level retention program with a
              proven record of success.
            • Access to ‘just-right” books can help all
              students improve their reading skills.

            • Gives students resources to stay on track
with reading level retention or improvements.

            • Allows educators an opportunity
              to motivate their most susceptible
students to keep reading so they may
be ready for the next grade level..

            • Invites parents to participate and
              ensure that their child’s reading
              levels are being strengthed.

            • Allows schools and educators a
quantifiable way to measure the ROI.
