Location: Berwyn, Pennsylvania
Design Statement: Bernardon is continuing its advocacy
of creating new fire and emergency medical service stations
that reinforce fast response, encourage on-site engagement
of volunteers and personnel, and maintain healthy indoor
environments.
Berwyn Fire Company (BFC) is expanding its service
area and is presently operating a temporary satellite fire
and EMS station in Tredyffrin Township. After years
of actively soliciting support from the Townships that
BFC serves, BFC has finally received a positive response
from Tredyffrin Township to create a permanent satellite
station. The new station is a contemporary design solution
incorporating a unique hose drying tower that anchors this rooftop gardens that can be also used for active training, day
two-story station to the site and celebrates the presence of room, indoor theater, fitness room, and dorms. The interior is
this important life safety resource in the community. The carefully planned to separate hot zones from clean zones. The
design incorporates interior and exterior amenities that introduction of transition zones provides the sensible means
will encourage engagement in order to promote active and to separate the apparatus bay entry and exit points from the
fast response to emergency calls. These amenities include “living” areas.
