P. 12

INTRODUCTION BY CYNCLAIR
I had promised never to do this again, but when asked, I spoke yes fluently! Why? FAMILY! There is something about the surname MUSGROVE that removes barriers; builds instant connection and transcends interpersonal
relationships. Halls, whether by marriage or birth, are intertwined into the Musgrove family.
This reunion started as a desire of Bishop Simeon Hall, son of the late Nola Musgrove. He
expressed that we should have a reunion. I, being related, was invited to join. What was meant to be a “small” gathering, quickly evolved into a four day celebration. Relatives from as far as Sweden to every corner of the world, answered the clarion call. Through social media, a committee was formed and plans were put in motion. Letters, flyers, and other correspondence had to be done - cousins AnLeslie Garland nee Musgrove,
Stephanie and Michelle Hamilton, all grandchildren of the late Nola Musgrove, ensured that task was completed; Cousins Sonny Walkine, Tita Belle’s son and Mellissa Dean- Jervis, granddaughter of the late Unnon Musgrove, supported by Coralin and Oimer Musgrove, kept us informed of our history and just how we were connected; Cousin Comonseta Campbell, daughter of Annis Campbell nee Hall (granddaughter of the late
Cleaval Hall nee Musgrove and Walter Hall), Clover Delancy and Norma Taylor, daughters of the late Alvera Taylor nee Musgrove and Willis Taylor), signed up for duty. Their task - food, accommodations, and other on the ground logistics. Cousin Charmaine Musgrove, daughter of the late Harry Musgrove and Jackie Musgrove, Artglee’s daughter demonstrated exceptional graphic skills. Charmaine spent countless sleepless nights
toiling on the individual family trees that were submitted. Bishop Simeon Hall was made President by virtue of seniority and yours truly, Cynclair Musgrove, became Madam Vice President.
Thus plans were put in place:
July 31st - Praise Party at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Sandy Point
August 1st - Emancipation Day - the traditional parade from Benevolent Hall when 92 year old Anarean Missick, daughter of the late Ceola Musgrove and Robert Gardiner, would receive the Premier of the Turks and Caicos Lifetime
Achievement Award - the oldest living relative; and the Robinson Variety store in Kew, oldest operating business in the entire country.
August 2nd Family Beach Day
August 3rd - Worship at Providence Baptist Church in Whitby
The commaraderie displayed in the group chat became priceless. Memories made, met and mingled with those past down over the years. Photos were unearthed; past tragedies were shared; present triumphs were championed; kinship bloomed.
