JOB CREATION
To meet the needs of the booming tourism industry, the TCI has to import thousands of skilled and experienced workers. The labour and immigration policy must be carefully managed, so it does not cause a strain on the economy. It must also ensure that heritage TC Islanders are not further marginalised in a rapidly growing economy in which, the demand for workers by the tourism industry continues to grow.
The PNP is laser focused on equipping heritage TC Islanders for the best positions in the economy. This will require increased investment in training and skills upgrading.
We Will...
• Partner with businesses to identify opportunities and build competence, experience and advantage among heritage TC Islanders.
• Monitor the foreign work permission system to eliminate job discrimination against heritage TC Islanders.
• Incentivise businesses to place returning qualified TC Islanders on experience training paths to fill key managerial positions and lead by example in government.
