Social Protection
In every economy, there are citizens who need state support to meet their needs. All categories of previous benefits through the department of social welfare have been improved. This PNP Administration recently introduced measures to provide unemployment benefits for laid off seasonal workers and a national minimum guaranteed income of $1,000 monthly for seniors 70 years and over.
Over the next five years, we will establish new benchmarks for social assistance and make provisions in the TCI budget to ensure that both equity and need are given full weight as we continue to thrive and improve the quality of life for TC Islanders.
