To Patsy from Pearly
Patsy and Pearly is what we were called, Taken for twins from when we were small; Our birthdays almost fall on the same day, 10th and 12th October just two days away; Patsy was born on October 10th 1961, Almost one year later then I came along.
Our mother would dress us two exactly alike, She’d make us share every toy, a doll or a bike; When I got in trouble, my big sister would too, Cause she was responsible for everything I’d do. Growing up two girls with four younger brothers, Made us bond together stronger than others.
If someone fought her, they’d have to fight me, To this day you mess with me, you’re her enemy! When we fought as children, she would beat me, But I’d beat all her opponents often mercilessly! Her friends are my friends, and mine are hers, Some we call relatives, not related by blood.
When she is sick I know it without a phone call, Our twin antennae’s plugged to an invisible wall. Cause we’re heading to sixty still living as twins, As grownups we better tolerate our difference. When I succeed at anything she’s my biggest fan, She’ll join in wholeheartedly for my accomplishment.
As children we didn’t get why we had to share, Our parents weren’t poor and we were aware; Our greatest desire is to see our own family tree, Spread love to one another as my sister and me. We greatly appreciate the way we were raised, May that keep us all united until our dying days.
CYNCLAIR “Pearly” MUSGROVE
I almost waited for Patsy’s sixtieth birthday to write a tribute. However, I am happy that I surprised her last year. She was so excited! She must have sent it to everyone in her contact! I am
so grateful that she got to share this tribute. It is in my book.
