The couple migrated to The Bahamas, where five years later, they would welcome their first child together, a baby boy. This marked the expansion of a strong and beautiful family. Their union was blessed with eight children. She also inherited five more blessings. They returned to the Turks and Caicos Islands in 1973. The couple made it one of their missions to instill lifelong lessons of perseverance, humility, respect and independence into their children. Mima was a hard worker with a strong sense of independence. She gained and maintained the title of entrepreneur at the tender age of 15 until the age of 80, when she would retire. She gained her footing in the self-employment industry by peeling conch and beating rock to sell to builders and homemakers,
this would secure her foundation with the development of a convenience store, which she successfully ran from the mid-late 80s. In the early 90s, she developed a desire to explore her creative abilities. Mimi picked up a passion of straw and craftwork, to which she perfected and was one of the most talented elders in her community with this gift. As her children were now adults, she dedicated her time and attention to her craft until her retirement in 2017. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren can all attest that one of her many life lessons has always been “If you

Travelling was one of Mimi’s favourite things to do. As long as there was someone to accompany her, her bags were packed and she was ready to go, whether to the Bahamas to visit her siblings and extended family or to her daughters Jear and Judy and her grandchildren in the United States. Travelling was something she absolutely loved. A memorable trip to Las Vegas was one of many of her grandest experiences. Mimi also loved going to the beach, the sea was a place of serenity for her. Persons would often speak about seeing her sitting under the tree on her customized bench watching the traffic flow by on Leeward Highway, waiting to converse with the first person to turn in to spend some quality time. Mimi was family oriented, a humanitarian who marveled at any opportunity to spend time with her family. This was her true enjoyment. Mima was a God-fearing woman and a prayer warrior. In her more energetic days, come Sunday Morning, rain or sunshine, Mima would be up front and present at the Jericho Baptist Church, grandchildren in tow. She was an avid church-goer up until she became ill. She would always express her love for God and motivated all to stay in constant prayer. Many of her peers often
